HAGONOY,
BULACAN – Last May 3, the 112th

Victor Acuña

came from the barrio of Sta. Elena in Hagonoy presided over the mass
for the ninth day of
the novena in honor of the celebration of the feast of St. Helena the
Empress, known locally by the parishioners as “Apo Elena”,
patroness of the Parish of Sta. Elena Emperatriz in Hagonoy.
During
his homily, Fr. Acuña
focused on the value of the gift of vocation as he has been a “seed”
that came from Hagonoy, and was planted in the Diocese of Tarlac to
bloom and be able to serve in his ministry as a priest of his
community. He also mentioned the value of the devotion of the people
to their dear patroness, Apo Elena, who by an increase of pilgrims
visiting her shrine yearly is an event of great admiration. He wishes
that Apo Elena may continue to help the people of Sta. Elena,
especially in moments of crisis and tribulations. Towards the climax
of the celebration, the people gathered in order to perform the
ceremonial offering of flowers to the dear patroness and was crowned
by the Hermanos Mayores of the 2014 Fiesta, Mr. and Mrs. Renato and
Rosario Mendiola (for Apo Elena) and Mrs. Sol Liwanag (for the Holy
Cross)
Before
the mass ended, Sem. Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban, who assisted during
the celebration delivered the message of the officers and
brother-priests in the Kapatiran
ng Kapariang Taga-Hagonoy, Inc. In
the message, the fathers mentioned Fr. Acuña's
record being the 112th
priest from the town of Hagonoy, Bulacan and 66th
of those still alive. They also reminded Fr. Acuña
through their message to be always loving in his ministry and never
lose faith in the Lord. They ask the faithful together in the
celebration to pray for their priest-son as well as all Hagonoeño
priests wherever they may be. In conclusion, Fr. Acuña thanked all
who attended and wished them all the best and that they continue to
