KAKATHA News 2015: 114th Priest-Son ordained in Batangas

SAN JOSE BATANGAS- Last August 22, on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, two priests and four deacons were ordained under the Oblates of St. Joseph (O.S.J.), a religious order founded by St. Joseph Martello in 1878 with the charism of work for the youth and the poor. One of the newly ordained priests is Rev. Fr. Ferdimagne Coronel Pascua, O.S.J. who took his perpetual profession in 2014. Fr. Pascua has roots in Hagonoy, Bulacan, making him the 114th son of the town to be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood.


The ordination took place at the Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Joseph the Patriarch in San Jose, Batangas, a church handled by the O.S.J. confreres and one of the oldest ones they still handle. He was ordained together with Rev. Fr. Helbert E. Jadraque, O.S.J. and Reverends Aldrich Gamboa, O.S.J., Gilbert Aboyo Hervias, O.S.J., Rodrigo Pecto, O.S.J. and Niño Randolf Reyes Subiaco, O.S.J. They were ordained by Most Rev. Agustinus Agus, Archbishop of Pontianak, Indonesia. He is presently assigned at the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Joseph the Patriarch in San Jose, Batangas where he is Parochial Vicar. Previously, Fr. Pascua has been assigned in O.S.J. parishes in the Archdiocese of Manila and in the Diocese of Pasig. 

The officers of the Kapatiran ng Kapariang Taga-Hagonoy, Inc. has invited Fr. Pascua to become the presider for the Eucharistic celebration for this year's anniversary of the Parish of St. Anne as a national shrine on October 29, 2015. KAKATHA News Admin.

Hagonoeño installed as Rector of San Carlos Seminary

MAKATI CITY - Last July 31, the Royal and Conciliar San Carlos Seminary, the major seminary of the Archdiocese of Manila rejoiced with the installation of its Rector, Rev. Fr. Joselito Robles Martin. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist with the rite of Installation was presided over by His Eminence, Most Rev. Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, D.D., Archbishop of Manila with the formators and priests from other dioceses as concelebrants at 6:00 pm at San Carlos Seminary's Lay Force Chapel. Being a formator in San Carlos Seminary since 2002 with the late Jaime Cardinal Sin then as Archbishop of Manila, Fr. Martin served in the seminary first as Spiritual Director, then as Spiritual Director. Before being assigned to the highest post in this institute of formation, he was the Director for the Psycho-Spiritual Integration Year (PSIY) of the San Carlos Graduate School of Theology. He was assigned as Rector last July 2 during the general reshuffle of the clergy of the archdiocese. 

Fr. Martin, or Fr. Joey as his close companions and the seminarians call him, is the ninth of ten siblings of Jose Sebastian Martin of San Sebastian, Hagonoy, Bulacan and Feliza Arellano Robles of Abulalas, Hagonoy, Bulacan. He finished his elementary studies at St. Anne's Academy (now St. Mary's Academy of Hagonoy) under the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) sisters. He finished his high school at Immaculate Conception Seminary (Minor) in Guiguinto, Bulacan finishing Valedictorian. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Classical Philosophy at Immaculate Conception Major Seminary - School of Philosophy, also in Guiguinto, obtaining the Most Outstanding Seminarian of the Year Award. Transferring to the Archdiocese of Manila, he spent his theological formation at San Jose Major Seminary under the Jesuit Fathers at Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City. He was ordained by Cardinal Sin on June 17, 1995 at the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral - Basilica.

Before becoming a seminary formator, Fr. Martin was assigned as Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Parish, Old Sta. Mesa, Manila; Parish Priest of Sta.
