Last January 19, 2019, Rev. Fr. Bartolome Saguinsin Bernabe, 82, died at Baliuag, Bulacan. Fr. Bernabe hails from Sto. Rosario, Hagonoy, Bulacan and was ordained a priest on March 30, 1963.
He served the Diocese of Malolos, then the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines as a military chaplain. He also served as attached priest at San Jose de Navotas Parish under the Diocese of Kalookan. When he retired due to glaucoma, he came back as a priest of the Diocese of Malolos.
Though he lived much of his retirement blind, he continued to say Mass for relatives and friends in his home in Plaridel, Bulacan with his sister whispering to him the necessary prayers and that he said the rites and prayer of the Mass from memory. He is truly an example of endurance and silent prayer as his life continues to inspire us in being faithful to the priestly calling.
He is to be interred at the Libingang Bantayog ng KAKATHA in Hagonoy, Bulacan
