Hagonoeño Priest installed as UST Rector

MANILA - On June 4, 2012, a Hagonoeño priest has been appointed to lead one of the most prestigious schools in the country, the Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas, Manila (UST). He is Rev. Fr. Herminio Victoria Dagohoy, a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) who is a native of Sta. Elena, Hagonoy, Bulacan.

     Fr. Dagohoy was born on June 8, 1965 in Sta. Elena, Hagonoy, Bulacan. He finished his secondary studies in Hagonoy Institute and his bachelor's degree in accountancy in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. After become an accountant, he entered the Dominican order and had his full profession of vows on May 10, 1988. 

     As a Dominican, studied philosophy and theology at the the Dominican Center for Institutional Studies (1990) and the University of Santo Tomas (2011). He also had a master's degree in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines (2000) and finished a doctoral degree in Philosophy from UST. He was already a priest on September 28, 1994 and was already in the ministry of teaching and preaching since then. He was also a finance officer for universities handled by the Dominicans and was already assigned as Rector of Angelicum College. After attaining his degree 

   By being installed as the head of the largest Catholic university in Asia, he is the institutions's 96th rector. He was installed in the presence of Most. Rev. Giuseppe Pinto, D.D., Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines at the Parish of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in the University of Santo Tomas, Manila. (Click this Link for details)

     Truly this son of Sta. Elena, Hagonoy is an pride of his town and his barrio, a person whose example shall be followed for years to come. KAKATHA News Admin.
