GUIGUINTO, BULACAN - During the last Priests' Recollection at the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary, two priests from the town of Hagonoy, Bulacan have been appointed to become Episcopal Vicars in the Diocese of Malolos. This move was done in light of the recent change in the positions of priests in the Diocese in the General Reshuffle of priests effective November 15, 2013.

Rev. Msgr. Andres Santos Valera, H.P. (San Jose) was Vicar General of the Diocese of Malolos since 2002 and was Rector of the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary since the same year. Upon his transfer to the Parish of St. Augustine in Baliwag, Bulacan, the Most Rev. Jose F. Oliveros, D.D., Bishop of Malolos has appointed him as the Episcopal Vicar for the Northern District. The Northern District is composed of the 14 parishes forming the Vicariate of St. Augustine (Baliwag) and the seven parishes forming the Vicariate of St. Michael the Archangel (San Miguel). As Episcopal Vicar, he represents the bishop in events, especially in events within the jurisdiction of the Northern District. As Episcopal Vicar for the Northern District, Msgr. Valera replaced Rev. Msgr. Adalberto G. Vergara, P.C., now Episcopal Vicar for the Southern District.

Rev. Fr. Manuel Martin Manicad, who was transferred to Nuestra Señora dela Asuncion Parish in Bulakan, Bulacan was appointed as the new Episcopal Vicar for the Religious. Formerly Fr. Manicad was Parish Priest of Risen Lord Parish in Veinte Reales, Valenzuela City. Photo Courtesy: Ranz Joseph Villamil.
Rev. Fr. Manuel Martin Manicad (San Sebastian) was Parish Priest of Risen Lord Parish in Veinte Reales in Marulas, Valenzuela City and was transferred as the new Parish Priest of Nuestra Señora dela Asuncion Parish in San Jose (Pob.), Bulakan, Bulacan. At the meeting of the priests with the bishop, he was appointed by the latter as the new Episcopal Vicar for the Religious. He is to take charge of events related to the religious and consecrated persons in the Diocese, most of which are members of the Association for Consecrated Persons (ACP). As Episcopal Vicar for the Religious, Fr. Manicad replaced Rev. Msgr. Bartolome G. Santos, Jr., P.C. who was appointed as the new Vicar General of the Diocese.

Truly, this has meant a great deal for the Diocese of Malolos with the appointment of new priests to the respective positions. May the inclusion of these Hagonoeño priests to the diocesan hierarchy be a grace for the clergy and the faithful of the Diocese. KAKATHA News Admin.
