MALOLOS CITY - Last September 12, one of Hagonoy's priest-sons celebrated 25 bountiful years in the priestly ministry. Rev. Fr. Vicente Burayag Lina, Jr. (Sto. Niño), former President of the Kapatiran ng Kapariang Taga-Hagonoy, Inc. (KAKATHA) offered his thanksgiving mass for the said jubilee at the Immaculate Conception Parish-Cathedral and Minor Basilica in Malolos City coinciding with the celebration of the Holy Name of Mary. Originally set on August 12, Fr. Lina decided to have the event a month after in respect to his mother Julita whose first death anniversary was held last September 7.

Before the Holy Eucharist, Fr. Lina with his family and friends held the procession starting from the ancestral house of the Tantocos in Sto. Niño to the minor basilica at 3:30 in the afternoon. The mass began at 4:00 with the Most Rev. Jose F. Oliveros, D.D., Bishop of Malolos and almost 50 priests from the Malolos clergy and from other dioceses as concelebrants.

In his homily, Rev. Msgr. Andres Santos Valera, H.P. (San Jose), Episcopal Vicar for the Northern District and a dear friend to Fr. Lina expressed his thanksgiving for the many things the celebrator has given in his 25 years. Fr. Lina has been recognized as an advocate of Church cultural heritage both in Bulacan and in other areas. He said of how the celebrator love Mary, whose images he would look after with other saints, some of whom are above a hundred years old. In his thanksgiving speech, Fr. Lina also expressed much joy for all that has been given to him. In his 25 years he thanked the parishes of the Immaculate Conception in Malolos, where he became part of the Team Ministry, Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario in Hagonoy, San Pedro Apostol in Borol 2nd, Balagtas and the Sacred Heart Diocesan Shrine in Cruz na Daan, San Rafael where he is now Parish Priest and Rector.

After the celebration, the guests were welcomed to the Immaculate Conception Hall at the Diocesan Pastoral Center for supper with shades of blue, silver and gold adorning the venue. Indeed, 25 years has truly been a grace for the continuing service of Fr. Lina in working in God's vineyard, the Church. KAKATHA News Admin | News Courtesy: Ronald M.
