HAGONOY, BULACAN - On May 12, the Visita of Sta. Monica de Tagaste in Hagonoy celebrated its traditional thanksgiving feast in honor of their patroness for her favors to the barrio. In her honor the Sta. Monica Sub-Parish Pastoral Council invited Hagonoeño priests from Sta. Monica to preside and concelebrate in the Misa Mayor for the celebration. (Click the link to see details of celebration) The mass was held at nine in the morning and was attended by four Hagonoeño priests. The presider for the mass was Rev. Msgr. Ranilo Santos Trillana, Episcopal Vicar for the Malolos Diocese's Southern district. The concelebrants were Rev. Fr. Vicente Amado Bernardo Manlapig, Rev. Fr. Anacleto Clemente Ignacio and Rev. Fr. Eisen John Matreo Cruz. Another priest who attended was Rev. Fr. Gino Carlo B. Herrera, Parochial Vicar of the National Shrine and Parish of St. Anne.

The sight was a unique one due to the attendance of the said priests. Fathers Manlapig and Ignacio are senior priests of the Diocese of Malolos while Fr. Cruz is a newly ordained priest from the Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga. They are a reminder for the beauty of Hagonoeño priests returning to their places of origin in order to appreciate their roots and thank God for their history from which they experienced the love of God in order to become the priests they are today.

After the mass, each priest received greetings of gratitude from the Sub-Parish Pastoral Council and was thanked by the Hermanos Mayores, Mrs. and Mrs. Lito and Isabel Escalona for their support of the barrio patroness, St. Monica, also known to Hagonoeños as Apo Monica. KAKATHA News Admin.
